On January 13, the main structure of the Left Auxiliary Road No. 1 Bridge, part of the Shenzhen MCC20 Meiguan Expressway Project, was completed, providing strong momentum for the project’s progress.
The Left Auxiliary Road No. 1 Bridge is strategically located, adjacent to the Meiguan mainline and crossing over Ramps C, D, and E, as well as Bulong Road. The bridge consists of six sections with 19 spans, totaling 679.8 meters in length. The first three sections each have three spans, while the fourth and fifth sections each have four spans, with each span measuring 35 meters and a deck width of 16.9 meters. The sixth section has two spans, each 40 meters long, with a deck width of 12.8 meters. The construction process employed segmental beam assembly for the first five sections and cantilever assembly for the sixth section. The entire superstructure consists of precast concrete segmental beams, with the erection period lasting 11 months. This is the second segmental beam bridge erected using a gantry crane in the Meiguan Expressway Project.
The project team overcame numerous technical and environmental challenges to ensure the smooth progress of the construction. Particularly noteworthy is the cantilever assembly and erection method employed for the sixth segment, which differs significantly from the previous full-span installation approach. This method requires symmetrical construction centered on the base, with each pair of precast beams needing to be aligned and tensioned sequentially. This process demands exceptionally high precision in terms of axis alignment and elevation control. Moreover, as the construction of the sixth segment spans Bulong Road, a route with heavy traffic flow, work could only be carried out during nighttime road closures. The project team placed great emphasis on this aspect, formulating a detailed safety construction plan to ensure both road safety and project progress during the construction period.
The completion of the main structure of the Left Auxiliary Road No. 1 Bridge not only prepares for the full opening of the western line but also provides the necessary conditions for the subsequent demolition of three mainline bridges and the construction of the eastern line. The Meiguan Expressway Project will continue to uphold a meticulous attitude, ensuring the high-quality progress of all project milestones and contributing to urban transportation construction and the optimization of the regional transportation network.
